A little more Palestine in your life?
Palestine, in your Inbox
Hi,
This is Palestine, in your Inbox, because who doesn’t need a little more Palestine in their life? I can think of 0 people.
Palestine Statistic of the Week
59% of kids in Gaza are self-harming, the highest youth self-harm rate in the world.

The 2 million people of Gaza have lived through 7 wars and 16 years of blockade. An entire generation has never left the strip. Their caloric intake is controlled by the Israeli military. The amount of electricity they consume is controlled by the Israeli military. And so the children of Gaza have the highest self-harm rate in the world, 3X higher than the European average. 😔

Palestine Map of the Week
“A Topography Map of the Land of Palestine,” in Filastin Risalesi (1915)
This map was published in 1915 in an Ottoman military handbook about Palestine called The Palestine Handbook. One interesting thing about this map is that, in 1915, Palestine was not a district of the Ottoman Empire, and yet the entire military handbook and most of the maps in it are about Palestine.
Takeaway: years before the British Mandate for Palestine, the word used by nearly everyone — Ottomans, Arab Palestinians, Jews, Zionists, Europeans, etc., was:
Palestine!
Now… what you’ve been waiting for …
Palestine Humor of the Week
I highly recommend watching this video. Thanks for @abierkhatib and @mohammedelkurd for sharing it. Epic satire on Zionism and the Palestinians:
Palestine Interview of the Week:
Basel Adra, of Masafer Yatta, is one of the bravest journalists in Palestine. He’s both a victim of Israel’s ongoing violent attempt to ethnically cleanse more than 1,000 Palestinian inhabitants of his village, but he’s also a journalist trying to cover it. In this Democracy Now interview, he explains the grotesque violence, harassment and intimidation he faces every day by the Israeli military, who last detained him in an attempt to steal his video footage of settler violence.
Palestinian journalist @basel_adra describes the difficulty of working in the West Bank, where Israeli settlers and soldiers can act with impunity. "I'm a Palestinian journalist and there is a hate from them toward me just because I … film them when they are doing these crimes."
